At Igulu Foundation, we have children and members of the community who are creative in making beautiful art pieces, jewelry, baskets, bracelets, door mats and many other master pieces out of local materials like palm leaves. We go ahead and engage disabled people who are able and it’s amazing how they come up with their master piece.
We also have tailoring under the art & craft program, here we offer tailoring lessons to single mothers, school dropouts and some disabled people like the deaf. So far, we have two (2) tailoring machines and ten (10) people. These people use “bitengi” and other clothe material to come up with stunning fashions of shirts, skirts, pants, bags and so on.
We have our clients in USA and Brazil to whom we send these products and after selling them, they send us back the money and we share the profits evenly among those involved in production.
As a volunteer, you can contribute to these activities by teaching children and any art & craft project, setting up art & crafts sales room, find sponsors towards this program, setting up sell arts and Craft at band functions or any other form of support you can.
